Derwent Rangers AFC History...

Derwent Ranger AFC was founded in 1986 as a result of a football tournament held between the "St Laurance cubs" & The "Westfield Lane Cubs" both of which were based in the Mansfield (Notts) area. Both organisations enjoyed the tournament to the extent that they wished to continue in competitive fixtures.

As a result the teams were entered into the local Youth League (The CHAD Mansfield Youth Football League) by Mr Alan Hodgkinson & Mr Glen Morris .

The name "Derwent" was taken from the "Street Name" where Mr Hodgkinson lived and the "Rangers" added to complete the club title.

Both clubs formed the basis of Derwent Rangers which went on to provide support and facilities for competitive youth football ranging from the under 9's to the under 16's.

Over the years hundreds of local youth players have passed through the club enjoying competitive competition and moving on to greater levels (Darrell Clarke played for the Derwent Rangers Under 12's team and progressed to the Mansfield Town (Stags) first team then later to Hartlepool United).
